July 1 2022 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Santa Cruz Seaweed 19-8 at Sam Lynn Ballpark, using a 16-hit attack to pull away in a high-scoring contest. Bakersfield improved to 31-18-0, while Santa Cruz fell to 17-33-0. The Train Robbers scored in seven innings and committed three errors compared with four for the Seaweed.
Santa Cruz led 5-4 after scoring three runs in the third and two more in the fourth, but Bakersfield seized control with a six-run fifth inning. The Train Robbers added two runs in the sixth, three in the seventh and four in the eighth to finish the scoring. Santa Cruz scored once in each of the fifth sixth and eighth innings but could not keep pace.
John Daly and Ishmael Ford each collected three hits for Bakersfield, with Daly scoring four runs and Ford scoring four runs while adding two doubles and a triple. Seth Strong went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Adam Mathias had two hits and scored three times, and Daryl Donerson drove in three runs with two hits. J. Nunn Jr. added two hits and two RBI. For Santa Cruz, Nick Giambalvo had two hits and three RBI, while Mike Anthony scored four runs and finished with two hits.
Cameron Isbell earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing five hits and seven runs, five earned, in five innings. He walked seven and struck out three. Christian Harrington followed with three innings of one-run relief, allowing three hits with two walks and one strikeout, and Aydan Rolph completed the game with a scoreless ninth. Nic Ray took the loss for Santa Cruz after allowing six hits and seven runs in 4.2 innings.
