Seaweed Blank Amberjacks Behind Riddle and Giambalvo

June 25 2022 The Santa Cruz Seaweed defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 6-0 in a seven-inning game. Santa Cruz scored twice in the first inning, added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the seventh while holding Monterey to three hits. The Seaweed finished with 11 hits and one error; the Amberjacks had three hits and no errors.

Nick Giambalvo powered the Santa Cruz offense with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored. Kairee Tekra collected three hits and scored once, while Hugo Garcia went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double. Mike Anthony added an RBI and Ron Jackson drove in a run.

Joe Riddle earned the win with a seven-inning, three-hit shutout. He struck out 12 and walked three, facing 28 batters while throwing 106 pitches, including 64 strikes. Lucas Sherman took the loss for Monterey after allowing six runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts in seven innings.
